Of the 3,000 construction candidates examined in Sri Lanka during the eighth round of recruitment through the bilateral agreement, altogether 2,000 were accepted. The recruitment process is an example of the persistence and professional precision of our partners in Sri Lanka. Since October 2023, there has been a severe shortage of skilled construction workers in Israel, but our partners in Sri Lanka have continued their efforts to recruit and screen candidates before they reach the stage of testing and acceptance.
It should be noted that as opposed to private recruitment, when construction workers are hired through bilateral agreements, it is possible to ensure the new recruits’ professional level thanks to the involvement and supervision of the Ministry of Construction and Housing. The agreements ensure a fair and transparent process and prevent illegal commission fees. The process is supervised and regulated by both sides under the auspices of PIBA. CIMI is proud to play a part in the process, cooperating with Sri Lanka, and subsequently protecting workers’ rights throughout the time they are in Israel by means of digital communities, the Call Center, and the information center, all of which serve thousands of workers in the construction, renovation, infrastructure, domestic and institution care, hotel, and restaurant sectors.
