Record number of inquiries to the Call Center

In March and April, the Call Center received over 1,000 inquiries – the largest number since October 2023. The main reason was the greater use of PIBA’s digital platforms, which give workers more control over their personal information, enabling many of them now to detect problems with registration and visas at an earlier stage and settle their status proactively. Inquiries of this kind accounted for a hefty proportion of the inquires in April – more than 20% of the total number that month.
The increase is part of a continuing trend of greater numbers of workers contacting the Center. Accordingly, in our current strategic planning process, we are aiming to find ways to improve the response to callers and streamline the process of disseminating a greater quantity of accessible information to the workers.
We have continued to receive inquiries relating to Operation Roaring Lion. While in March, most of the inquiries were about security threats and emergencies, there has been a notable shift over the past month and half of the inquiries are about the ongoing consequences of the war, including issues such as payment for days when the security guidelines prohibited work.
