2018 – Asylum seekers: Assistance according to laws and treaties

From 2017 to 2018, CIMI increased its activity and commitment to every aspect of assistance to asylum seekers. The activities were funded by donations and conducted with the help of a large group of volunteers. CIMI broadened the range of activity to cities in the periphery where asylum seekers were living without the benefit of services, and raised awareness of their presence among local agencies. This was done with the cooperation of the local authorities and leadership of the asylum-seeker community, and the assistance was given in the framework of international agreements and charters signed by Israel, including the agreement on the status of refugees, which Israel was the first to sign (1953) and the agreement on the rights of the child.
