2012 - Setting up the Call Center for Migrant Workers
The Call Center for Migrant Workers is CIMI’s flagship project. The center was created in 2012 as part of the implementation of the bilateral agreements. The center was run by CIMI for PIBA, at first for the Thai workers as part of the cooperation with the IOM, and subsequently for additional groups. The workers receive information about the center before leaving their country of origin and again, upon arrival in Israel. Workers who contact the center, which is staffed by an extensive team of interpreters, receive a preliminary response and information in their own language. Complaints that require action are referred to coordinators at the Foreign Workers Administration, who direct them to the relevant enforcement agencies at PIBA, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs, the Israel Police, etc.
The large number of calls to the center testifies to its importance as the main address for work migrants who come to Israel through the bilateral agreements.
